SOLAS welcomes additional €38.4m budget allocation for Further Education and Training
The additional €38.4m for Further Education and Training announced by Government in the Budget has been welcomed by SOLAS, the Further Education and Training Authority.
SOLAS CEO, Andrew Brownlee said: “This additional investment by Government will allow SOLAS and the ETBs to provide more opportunities for learners including through apprenticeship programmes and Skills to Advance, which specifically provides training for people in employment. It is also a strong signal that FET is recognised for the important contribution that it makes to both individual learners and the Irish economy and, at this time the critical role it can potentially play in helping Ireland respond to the impact of Brexit.
“Over the coming weeks, SOLAS will work closely with the Department of Education and Skills and the ETBs to ensure that the extra investment has the greatest impact possible.”
